Woven Interlining Grades for Indian Formal Wear

Indian formal wear can require substantially different levels of garment structure depending on the style and fabric. Suits, blazers, sherwanis, bandgalas, and overcoats do not necessarily need the same supporting material. This is why having multiple woven interlining grades available can be useful for garment manufacturers managing different product lines.

For suits and blazers, Double Ghoda lists woven fusible grades from approximately 80 GSM through 130 GSM depending on the required structure. An 80 GSM grade is described for standard blazers and jackets, while 100 GSM is listed for structured suits. The 120 and 130 GSM grades are positioned for premium suits, bandgala jackets, and heavier formal jackets where greater shape retention is required.

Ethnic formal wear can call for still heavier grades. Double Ghoda identifies 140 GSM, known as 111 quality, for full-front sherwani construction. Its 150 GSM option is listed for the most structured applications, while 100–140 GSM is given for bandgala and Nehru jackets. Woollen overcoats are listed with a 100–150 GSM requirement. These specifications provide manufacturers with a practical framework for comparing grades.

The choice should ultimately follow the garment's construction rather than a general preference for heavier material. Using a suitable GSM helps manufacturers balance body, structure, and the intended appearance of the finished garment. The interlining also needs to be applied correctly using the appropriate fusing conditions.

Double Ghoda supplies woven fusible interlining across an extensive 30–150 GSM range. Its products feature PA double-dot coating, and the company states that the woven range is OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certified. With ready stock in Bhiwandi, Maharashtra, Double Ghoda serves India's garment trade with wholesale woven interlining options for formal wear manufacturers.
