What Should You Check When Buying Woven Fusible Interlining?

Buying woven fusible interlining for garment production requires more than comparing prices and GSM figures. A useful purchasing specification should explain what the material is made from, how it is coated, where it will be used and how it should perform after fusing. This gives manufacturers a better basis for comparing different products and reduces the possibility of selecting an unsuitable grade.

Construction should be one of the first checks. Woven interlining uses a fabric base, and the base construction contributes to its stability. Buyers should then review the weight range, width and roll format. Coating is another important specification because the adhesive layer determines how the interlining bonds to the outer fabric. The intended application should also be recorded. A grade selected for a structured suit may not be appropriate for a soft garment or a small component such as a cuff.

Testing the actual combination is essential before bulk approval. The outer fabric can change the final behaviour of the interlining because its weight, weave and surface influence the bonded result. Manufacturers should create a sample using the actual fabric and follow the intended fusing process. The finished sample can then be checked for bond quality, surface appearance, flexibility and hand feel. This is more reliable than deciding from a specification sheet alone.

For wholesale purchasing, a clear product specification makes repeat orders easier. Double Ghoda supplies woven grades from 30 to 150 GSM, with polyester yarns in warp and weft, PA double-dot coating, 150 cm width and 50-metre rolls. The range includes 11 GSM grades. Buyers can use these details to create an initial shortlist and then confirm suitability through sampling. Keeping an approved sample alongside the purchasing specification can help production teams maintain consistency when ordering future lots.
