I learned early that using the right washer—be it a flat washer, thrust washer, or locking tab washer—is crucial for machine longevity. Substituting with generic washers, like low-quality industrial washers or improperly sized spacer-discs, leads to alignment issues and early wear. Precise thickness and material choice, including bimetallic washers and sealing washers, are key.
Also, understanding environmental demands helps; conical washers and spring lock washers are better for corrosive or high-vibration conditions. Prioritizing quality and fit prevents downtime and costly repairs.
